The Next Boom in Petrochemical Industry: Age of Abundance

Already many oil and gas analysts in particular in advanced petrochemicals are talking about the absurd "Age of Abundance" is coming. The next petrochemical boom will not be about producing the most petrochemical portfolio, integration upstream and downstream, but a focused new materials development which will require certain feedstock especially new plastics and resins and highly advanced nano-plastics.

The hype about the next petrochemical boom will largely be targeting the industry of computer science, supercomputer, 3D printing and media-related consumer goods. The combination of these industries will see
the rise of age where ordinary man can produce highly custom made products at a much higher margin from home. The examples would be special tools created via 3D printing that utilizes the supercomputing power which will be accessible to normal users to produce special type of materials and design shape for specific purpose tools. New materials can be created easily through a vast arrays of chemical database via supercomputer for specific calculations on chemical reactions and prediction of certain properties. 

Already some chemical companies are looking into the prospect of "intelectual property" renting where the chemicals production patents, and prediction of new types of materials will be made available via in-house supercomputing. Users can rent the access to these databases and informations in creating the new materials that would otherwise take the researchers years to develop.

The upcoming age of abundance, which some technology advocates claim would start as soon as 2017 predicts the usage of petrochemical feedstock to be used by individual enterpreneurs to develop new niche specialized custom-made products.
