This is a new section, to share our experience in the petrochemical industry. This is like chemical engineering 101 but only difference is, this is the stuff that they do not teach you at university, more of practices in the petrochemical industry and rule of thumbs for design, in order to accelerate anyone who just enters the industry.
In broader sense, petrochemical or oil and gas is not that far of difference, talking from design and
operational point of view, of course the business is very different.
operational point of view, of course the business is very different.
This will be eternally work in progress, do drop by often, they will be presented in topics such as
- Where would a chemical engineering graduate be working?
- First thing first. Safety is first.
- Rule of Thumb - a quick way to design estimate
From time to time, I will put in some shortcuts for chemical engineers to do a rough estimate on things to consider when you want to do a design or a cost estimate. This is IMPORTANT! As you will always be caught in a meeting expected to be an expert in the fields as if you have been working for 20 years. It's normal to be intimidated during the early days of a design engineer, especially from your fellow technicians. Don't take it hard, smile and keep working.
